Where is this place?

The place I’d like to talk about is the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate, which is in the hills near Munnar. I had heard a lot about the views there, especially the sunrise and the tea plantations, so I was really looking forward to experiencing it for myself.

When and why did you visit it?

I went there with my friends, and we mainly went because we wanted to watch the sunrise from the hills. We started our journey at around 4 a.m. and took an off-road jeep through some really rough and bumpy mountain roads. It was a bit uncomfortable at times, but it was also quite exciting because the whole journey felt like an adventure.

We had heard that the place would be really cloudy and misty early in the morning, so we were actually expecting to see a lot of fog. But when we finally reached the top, it was completely different. It was actually a very sunny day with a clear sky.

What views can you see from this place?

Even though we didn't get the misty view we were expecting, the clear weather was actually a good thing because we could see the surroundings really well. We could see the beautiful green tea estates spread across the hills, along with the mountains and valleys in the distance. We could also see the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border.

There was also a funny incident that happened there. We were trying to find this particular tiger-faced rock, which is a popular spot for taking photos there. While we were looking for it, we noticed that some people were taking pictures in our direction. We didn't really understand why they were doing that. Then, after looking around, we realised that we were actually standing on the same tiger-faced rock we had been searching for.

I think the views were beautiful because everything was so clear that day. What I liked most was the feeling of standing at such a high point and seeing the landscape stretching out in front of us. It was really peaceful, and for a while, I just forgot about everything else and enjoyed the view.

Where is this place?

One place I have visited that has beautiful views is Marina Beach in Chennai, especially early in the morning. I think the view is completely different between around 5 and 7 a.m., when the beach is still and calm.

When and why did you visit it?

I went there with a friend because we wanted to experience the beach early in the morning. We reached at around 5 a.m., and there was a particular spot where a group of people were preparing the ground and bringing cereal to feed pigeons. 

At first, there were only a few pigeons, but slowly more and more started arriving. By the time we left, there must have been hundreds of them flocking around us. We also tried feeding them, and honestly, it was my first time doing anything like that. For a moment, I felt as if I was in a movie song.

What views can you see from this place?

Apart from the pigeons, we could see a beautiful golden sunrise over the sea, with the calm waves moving towards the shore. The whole place looked peaceful and almost magical. There were also people of different age groups enjoying the morning. A group of people were doing laughter therapy and yoga, an elderly couple were jogging together, and some kids were splashing around in the waves.

I think the views were so beautiful because it wasn't just about the sea or the sunrise. It was the whole scene together — the golden sky, the waves, the pigeons flying around and people enjoying their morning. 

I would definitely recommend visiting Marina Beach early in the morning, especially with someone you love, because it is the kind of view that stays in your memory.

Where is this place?

One place I visited that had beautiful views was Kumbalangi, a small village near Kochi in Kerala. It is surrounded by backwaters, coconut trees and small fishing areas.

When and why did you visit it?

I visited Kumbalangi with a few of my best friends during a trip to Kerala. We had heard that the place looked especially beautiful at night, so we decided to spend an evening there. We went on a small boat ride after dinner, and that turned out to be the most memorable part of the trip.

What views can you see from this place?

It was a clear night, and the moon was shining brightly over the backwaters. The water was very calm, so the moonlight was clearly reflected on its surface. But the most surprising thing happened when we moved the boat through the water. We could see tiny blue lights appearing around the boat. It was a bioluminescence experience, and I had never seen anything like that before.

At first, I thought I was imagining it, but when we moved our hands through the water, we could see the little blue lights again. We all got absolutely amazed and started touching the water just to see them. With the moon above us and the blue lights in the water, the whole place looked almost magical.

I think the view was beautiful because I had never experienced something like that before. Usually, when we think of a beautiful view, we imagine mountains or beaches during the daytime. But here, it was the moon, the quiet backwaters and the blue lights in the water that made it special.

For me, the best part was that we didn't expect it. We were just enjoying a normal boat ride, and suddenly we saw the bioluminescence. It made the whole experience feel magical, and it is definitely one of the views I still remember clearly.

3. Do you think people take too many photos when they visit beautiful places?

Yes, sometimes they do. People want to capture their memories, which is completely understandable, but some of them spend so much time taking photos that they don't actually enjoy the place. I think taking a few pictures is fine, but it's also important to put the phone away and enjoy the experience itself.
